We're working on an American Express review template here at I Want a Credit Card:

"The American Express [name] is targeted to the high-end traveller market. The interest rate is 20.74% and the annual fee is high. The End."

Reviewing the range of American Express cards is becoming somewhat monotonous. We almost could have copied-and-pasted the review from the American Express Qantas Premium as the two cards are almost identical. You get the same range of travel features including domestic and international travel insurance, travel inconvenience cover, emergency worldwide card replacement and global customer service. The interest rate, extended warranty, purchase protection and bonus point scheme (5,000 after your first spend and 2,500 after your first spend on selected Qantas services) are also identical.

The only differences seem to be the sightly higher earn rate (1.5 points per dollar spent instead of 1.25) and instead of access to the Qantas Lounge (offered on the Qantas Premium), you get one domestic economy return flight between Australian capital cities after your first card spend each year. The annual fee is also higher ($450 instead of $249).

So, it you're considering this card, it comes down to whether the free flight and the Frequent Flyer points are worth the $450 annual fee. For those planning international travel, this card (like the Qantas Premium) may be worth it simply for the included travel insurance and travel inconvenience cover.
