Summary There's not much you can say about the ANZ First. It's an entry level card - great as a (gasp!) first credit card, for students or young people just entering paid work. But for everyone else, there's probably a more suitable card out there.

The First is ANZ's entry level card. There are few bells and whistles - no travel insurance, no concierge and no rewards program.

Curiously, the card does come with extended warranty protection and purchase security - features usually only found on gold or platinum cards.

ANZ offer no annual fee for the first 12 months ($30 each year thereafter) and 7.99% balance transfers for the first six months, which is quite good for a basic card.

You also get ANZ's standard cards features: design your own card (where you can upload an image to put on the face of your card), worldwide emergency card replacement and a good security program.

On the downside, the interest rate on purchases (19.24%) is quite high compared to other competing cards.

Overall, the First will be worth considering for those entering the credit card market, but for everyone else it's worth shopping around.
