The ANZ Gold could have been called the ANZ Goldilocks. Most of its features (interest rate, interest free days, annual fee etc) sit in the middle of the range. Not too high, not too low, just right. But there are a few little things that separate this card from the pack.
The card comes with free overseas travel and medical insurance, 90-day purchase security insurance and extended warranty cover. That means that most things you purchase are automatically insured against theft, loss and accidental damage for the first 90 days and most things you purchase with a warranty (such as a fridge, TV etc) has the warranty automatically extended by one year.
The travel insurance, worldwide emergency credit card replacement, commission free traveller's cheques and access to ANZ Gold Liberty 24 hour global travel service make this card a serious candidate for anyone looking for a card to take overseas.
Currently, you can also get a balance transfer rate of 7.99% for six months.
There are no significant downsides to this card - as I mentioned at the start, most of the important features are mid-range. If you're after the card with the cheapest interest rate, the cheapest annual fee or the best balance transfer deal, there are better cards available. However if you're after a well-rounded card, perhaps to take overseas, the ANZ Gold is hard to beat.
