The Suncorp Platinum is an improvement on the Gold, but mostly due to the improved Qantas Frequent Flyer earn rate. For this interest rate and annual fee, there are far better reward programs.

The HSBC Platinum Visa may not be the most impressive platinum, but it offers good value with a range of included insurance and below average annual fee and interest rate.

The Westpac 55 Day Platinum is the same as the Westpac 55 Day Gold: they've have just hiked up the annual fee, slapped on a concierge service and given it a new coat of paint.

The American Express Platinum MoneyBack does exactly as it promises - gives you money back from your purchases. While the earn rate isn't high, it should be more than enough to recoup the annual fee.

There are small African nations with a GDP less than the annual fee of this card. But if you can move past that, it offers an excellent range of features.

American Express continue to set the bar for travel features in credit cards with the American Express Platinum, however the very high annual fee will be a deterrent for many.

The Citibank Clear Platinum is a very good mid-range card, offering some great services for a very low price. Just make sure you never accidently get cash out.

The Emirates Citi Platinum offers the greatest range of services we've seen in a credit card. It's not for everyone - there are lower interest rates and annual fees, but if you're in the market for a platinum or a great balance transfer deal, this one's hard to beat

The Citibank Platinum is a card that offers all the features you'd expect from a platinum card - and you pay for them. Worth it if you're after a balance transfer deal, or if you're one of those people who pay off their balance in full each month and never use the card for cash advances.
