Travel insurance

« Back to question board
Hi there, I was reading quite a few reviews and was wondering if you could help me with a few questions! 1. My partner and I go on international travel around twice a year. Is it worth it to simply get a card with free travel insurance, just for the insurance? 2. We don't spend that much, but the Commonwealth cards are decreasing their rates for point exchange with QFF. We were wondering when you would suggest getting something like Krisflyer Gold or Platinum? We would definitely use the points every year. Thanks a lot!
Hi George,

Thanks for your question.

Travel insurance on credit cards is tricky: it often only offers limited coverage and there are some common traps to avoid. I recommend you read the article at http://iwantacreditcard.com.au/article/credit-card-insurance/ for more information.

If you want to stick with QFF, check out the American Express cards (such as the Qantas Premium and Qantas Ultimate), or if you'd prefer a Visa/MC, the ANZ FF Visa Platinum, Westpac Earth Platinum and NAB Qantas Gold.

Personally, I like the Westpac Singapore Airlines cards, mostly because I like Singapore Airlines. If you fly with them regularly, it's definitely worth a look.

Good luck.
