are platinum cards really that good and are the consierge sernices really that good?
Hi David,

Yes and no. It depends on your spending behaviours.

Remember, you end up paying for every feature included in your card, even the 'free' ones like concierge services and reward programs -- the costs are simply built into the annual fee or interest rate.

My advice is to do some simple calculations. How much do you spend on your card? How many reward points are you likely to earn? How much will you pay in fees and interest? Try to work out if you will end up in front.

Concierge services are difficult to quantify. My card has one but I've never used it, but I'm sure there are other people who get real value from theirs. If you're the type of person who needs to frequently make last minute reservations for dinner and events (sport games, theatre etc) or if you travel frequently, it may be worthwhile. Contact the bank and ask what the service includes.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Cameron.
