Hi, what do you think the usage of this card overseas. $0 fee for life of the card $50.00 cash back get instant discount both locally and overseas. Home and Away Privilege Program | HSBC Australia Enjoy Instant Rewards at local retailers around Australia and when travelling
Hi Syd,

Thanks for the question.

I assume you mean the HSBC Credit Card, which offers 15.99% on purchases, $0 annual fee and 55 days interest free.

You can take a look at a comparison of foreign transaction fees we conducted back in June at http://www.iwantacreditcard.com.au/article/international-fees-comparison/

You'll see HSBC charge 2.0% on all overseas transactions, which is quite reasonable (most of the major Australian banks charge around 3.0%). HSBC may be able to offer these lower rates because they're a global bank. This brings other advantages too -- better international ATM support, more branches and less time to deliver an emergency replacement card if required.

The card doesn't offer any travel or transit insurance, but for a $0 annual fee, that's not unexpected.

I think it's a good, low-end travel credit card.

Cameron.
