best type of card

« Back to question board
Hi I am looking for a credit card that is best suited to act as an 'emergency' card. Just to be in the wallet incase other payment options either do not work or don't have balance expected. Do you have any advice on how best to look for a card to suit that purpose? or any suggestions on a card that would suit? thanks for your help.
Hi Sally,

Thanks for your question.

It really depends upon which type of card you already have. For example, if you have a Visa, it may be a good idea to get a MasterCard and vice-versa.

You probably want to get a card which has no annual fee and a good interest free period. If it's just used for emergencies and any purchases are repaid immediately, the interest rate is less of a concern.

Westpac's No Annual Fee MasterCard and the Bankwest Zero MasterCard are both worth a look.

Hope this helps.

Cameron.
